Oops, me again. Apparently I've built up some immunity against hyperlinks, and didn't even notice the one in goodbear's comment above. That's a beautiful/funny story, goodbear, with a lot of wisdom for little mud-coloured Turtle. Now, when I feel depressed/oppressed by a certain vociferous group, I'll try to think of them as fickle, overprivileged Canada honkers and tell my tales to willing, quiet friends.

All right, a lucky number seven names on our ballot! Midnight Samoan Time is coming up, so any reluctant lurkers out there will have to speak up, or forever hold their peace... at least until we make up a new game. ;)

Myrtle coz it rhymes with turtle. Of course myrtille doesn't rhyme too well with tortue, but that can't be helped. So we'll just not mention Myrtle on our trip to Paris!

JANE, a lurker, says:
"For your dear little turtle, I'm voting that it's a girl named Shelley. Her picture just looks feminine to me.
If I try to comment on your site, or even read the comments, my Internet crashes. This could be something in our network.
Cheers!"
So now we have a vote FOR a Shelley as well as a vote BY a Shelley. The suspense is growing!

Many years ago I had a very good friend who was a world renowned expert on reptiles who was blind. Bruce had the greatest collection of reptiles and amphibians (he got rid of all his poisonous snakes when he lost his sight) and I remember there being a family of Mata-Mata (sp?) turtles named Tiny Tim and Miss Vicky. So once you decide on "its" gender - those are my choices! Actually Tiny Tim may work for both!

Mu-u-uch better. Spike the tomboy would definitely be the butchiest member of this household, except maybe for the cat. And Sandra, not Alexander, makes the boy-girl odds 50-50 now. This is fun!

OK, OK, so the little one can't be an it. So, let's try the rational aproach: dogs are boys, cats are girls, toads are boys... oh dear, this is going to take forever. Well, I'll just have to guess: Sandy is... a girl!
