Three Rhymes and a Movie
I. The Rhymes
As promised, here are the first three of the limericks made from the words provided by the entrants of last week’s blog contest.
Eyegillian offered the word “explore”. Her limerick will gain sidebar status on May 7th.

- I wish that my room had a door!
- I don’t care so much for a floor,
- But without any way
- To get out and go play,
- I won’t have a chance to explore!
Alyson offered the word “Pluto”. Your limerick will be front-paged on May 14.
- Is Pluto a planet or not?
- I used to know, but I forgot.
- To force its demotion
- Has caused me emotion;
- My horoscope now has a blot!
Jack’s mum offered “flash”, but I haven’t quite managed that one yet, so today I’ll post her other suggestion, “Transylvania”. It’ll be sidebarred… umm… Checkers, what’s three times seven?
- A passenger from Transylvania
- Smiled and laughed till his stop: Pennsylvania.
- He was trying his best
- To ward off arrest:
- “For concealed weapons found, they’ll arraign ya.”
II. The Movie
While I couldn’t find a Youtube video of Burton Cummings singing “I Will Play a Rhapsody”, Themarvelousinnature sent a link to some Canadians named Keith, Ken, and Frank jamming in Keith’s basement. Apart from the opening ritardando, they’re really not bad. So here’s a link to a coupla guys on accoustic guitars and their singing cohort (the twin brother of the one guitarist!), belting out their tribute to Burton Cummings. Enjoy!

Thanks for the limerick — that’s a good one — now, if only I had time to go and explore more often!

Did you know that there is a place in Virginia called Spotsylvania?? I think its where vampires go when they are recovering from the measles

Yeah, Eyegillian, they do get the tune across quite nicely for illustrative purposes.

I love my limerick! It’s funny cause it’s true - I don’t any longer know if Pluto is a planet or not! I think you are channelling me when I’m sleeping

Channeling you while you’re sleeping! Would that it were so, since you’re such a terrific humourist! It would be like one of those alternate-reality puzzles: is the man dreaming of a butterfly or is the butterfly… on second thought, this would definitely explain your unpeppyness. I’ll try to just use my own thoughts from now on.

You are so good for me! With you on one side of the world and me on the other, we could be creating crazy almost 24/7(….cause other times there’s, like, mopping…but at least that’s to LRB and that’s a nice bit of crazy right there.)
