Crikey, I hope there’s at least a rope balastrade to hold onto as you descend those steps, they’re rather steep!
And there’s more off to the side…?
How many bodies are you planning on hiding down there? 😛

  2. lavenderbay says:

Yep, Jayne, that staircase sure isn’t up to current code; I imagine it as the steps into a ship’s hold. What’s cropped out of the photo is a nearly horizontal length of railing which will get me to the concrete before I run out of arm. To my left are two more steps which level out into a little well low enough for a man to use the workbench there.
I’ve removed 300 2-gallon pails of dirt from the crawlspace in order to have enough height of wall to take a four-foot batt of insulation. Still have a few pails to go (I’ve actually wimped out for a few weeks) but by this point, I don’t expect to turn up any mysterious bones.

  3. That’s a lot of buckets! Have you considered getting an enchanted broom to carry them for you? 😉

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  4. lavenderbay says:

Good idea, James, but with my luck, by the time I got it stopped, our thus-far dry cellar would have a sunken swimming pool…can’t always trust hired help.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

  5. eyegillian says:

Well, you’re certainly showing good muscle tone, you Amazon. I’ll give you an “A” for effort!

  6. lavenderbay says:

I think I’m too short to be an Amazon, Eyegillian. A Beemazon or a Ceemazon, maybe.

  7. Alyson says:

You’re going to hate this but you are cute as a button!

  8. lavenderbay says:

A tired, wrinkled, sweaty button, yeah. 😀 But hey, Alyson, this photo does show to advantage that nice “going to luncheon” T-shirt you noticed among my birthday garb. And jars of Gardills!

  9. Tony says:

300 buckets!!! Good Grief… You sure are working hard, sounds like you deserved that homemade grog

  10. lavenderbay says:

Thanks, Tony! The nice thing about all that dirt is that it has helped level the property by the back fence enough that we were able to plant some serviceberry bushes. (Hmm…serviceberry beer…I wonder…)

  11. You’ve sure been industrious this fall. But will you be able to manage Good Attitude?

  12. lavenderbay says:

Well, I’ve been improving at any rate, Barefootheart: sometimes E.g. lets me sit on the middle step!

  13. At least you’ve got good stuff to eat there behind you on the shelves!

  14. lavenderbay says:

True enough, S. Le. Now if I could only open the lids…

  15. Artswebshow says:

lol. thats exactly how it is in my job too.

  16. lavenderbay says:

Good management is so hard to find these days, isn’t it, Art?
